Abstract:   (372 Views)
Waterborne zoonotic helminthiases mediated by copepods pose significant public health risks, particularly in areas with inadequate water sanitation. This review synthesizes current knowledge on major diseases such as gnathostomiasis, sparganosis, and dracunculiasis, examining their zoonotic potential, infection mechanisms, and the impact of environmental factors. It critically assesses the strengths and limitations of existing research, emphasizes regional factors affecting Iran, and discusses recent advancements in diagnostics and emerging pathogens. Recommendations for future research and improvements in preventive measures are provided. Emphasis is placed on the importance of surveillance, education, and the development of effective treatment protocols.
